    Falklands begins comprehensive Public Health Strategy development

    The Falklands Islands Government has begun work on developing a comprehensive Public Health Strategy. The purpose of this work is to help people stay healthy as long as possible and reduce ill health by enabling everyone to make healthier choices in their lives.

    Falklands' welfare and pension changes effective July 1st

    The retirement pensions payment will increase from £153 per week to £156 per week

    The Falkland Islands Treasury, following the publication of the 2018/19 Government Budget in April, reminds the public of the following welfare and pension changes that will be coming into force from 1 July onwards, and some further changes that will be effective from 1 January 2019 onwards.

    The Falklands has achieved a satisfaction rating of 8.9 out of 10 on travel-based social media site TripAdvisor, up from 8.8 last year, according to the Falkland Islands Tourist Board (FITB).

    UK prepared to resume arms sales to Argentina after a six-year ban

    The decision comes a few weeks after Foreign Secretary Johnson visited Buenos Aires, where he vowed “an intensifying relationship” with Argentina

    Arms exports to the Argentine military are set to resume, more than six years after a ban imposed in a row over the Falkland Islands. Foreign Office Minister Sir Alan Duncan said restrictions would still be imposed on exports which could “enhance” Argentina's military capabilities.

    Malvinas question dispute: new phase in Argentina/UK relations will create favorable conditions

    “President Macri has prompted a new phase in relations with the UK”, Faurie (c) said on Thursday during the C24 debate at the UN building in New York.

    Foreign minister Jorge Faurie reiterated before the United Nations Decolonization Committee or C24, that Argentina wishes to establish a dialogue with the UK to solve the Malvinas Islands dispute, and underlined he believed that “favorable conditions” for such a scenario have been created and are advancing.
