  Argentine officers accused of 'burying' and 'staking' conscripts during the Falklands conflict face trial

  

  An Argentine federal judge from the city of Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuego will be questioning four officers who allegedly during the 1982 Falklands' conflict ordered the “burial” and “staking” of a group of conscripts for having slaughtered a sheep, since they were desperately hungry and suffering from cold weather conditions.

  Image of Virgin of Lujan taken to Falklands during the war to be returned at ceremony blessed by the Pope

  

  An image of Argentina's saint patron, the Virgin of Lujan, which was carried to the Falklands during the 1982 conflict, and remained unaccounted for during years, will be returned by the United Kingdom. In retribution, the Argentine military bishop will hand a replica of the image to the head of British military chaplains in a ceremony to take place next month in the Vatican with Pope Francis blessing the images.

  Johnson/Macri, a ten-year friendship since they were mayors of London and Buenos Aires

  

  The Argentine media is pointing out that Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Argentine president Mauricio Macri first met when they were mayors of London and Buenos Aires, --and full of ambitions--, and have since had a cordial standing personal relation. The first meeting took place at the Davos summit, Switzerland, in January 2009, and according to witnesses the chemistry was immediate.

  Argentine air force planning to purchase some ten South Korea's FA-50 fighter

  

  The Argentine air force has selected South Korea’s FA-50 as its next fighter, Jane's reported this week. The decision is good news for a once-proud air arm that, in recent years, has precipitously declined in size and effectiveness. Argentine officials as early as 2016 had asked to evaluate the twin-seat, supersonic FA-50, Jane's reported.

  Argentina condemns British MEP's likening foreign fishing to Belgrano sinking

  

  Argentina harshly condemned the “lamentable declarations of British MEP Robert Rowland” in which he threatened foreign fishing in the Falklands area with “the same treatment as the Belgrano,” in reference to the Argentine cruise sunk by the United Kingdom during the 1982 war.

  Military parade and Malvinas Veterans march to celebrate Argentina's independence

  

  Some four thousand troops, including Malvinas Veterans will be marching this Tuesday in the posh district of Palermo in Buenos Aires, as part of the Independence Day celebrations. Last year the parade was cancelled because of budget problems.

  ARA Belgrano relatives will travel next October to the spot where she went down torpedoed in May 1982

  

  Relatives of the sailors who lost their lives when the sinking of the Argentine cruiser ARA General Belgrano, during the Falklands' conflict will be travelling to the area where she went down, sometime in mid-October.
