    Falklands Representative honors Margaret Thatcher on annual memorial day

    In observance of Margaret Thatcher Day, Richard Hyslop, Falkland Islands Government Representative to the UK & Europe, paid respects to the late Baroness Thatcher. He laid a bouquet of flowers on her grave, representing the gratitude of the Falklands for her role in the liberation of the Islands during 1982 conflict in the South Atlantic.

    Retired Argentine Navy pilot Owen Crippa launched this week a fundraiser to bring back from the United States the Italian-built Aermacchi MB-339 with which he attacked the HMS Argonaut on May 21, 1982, during a reconnaissance mission amid the South Atlantic war over the Falkland Islands. He reportedly needs US$ 50,000.

    Argentina's future government of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) is entertaining the possibility of appointing retired Colonel Daniel Esteban, a Malvinas War Veteran, as Deputy Defense Minister as of Dec. 10, according to Buenos Aires daily Clarín. Esteban would serve under former Juntos por el Cambio (JxC) Vice Presidential candidate Luis Petri, who has been picked to head the Ministry following the now-defunct alliance's support to Javier Milei against Sergio Massa at the Nov. 19 runoff.

    During a ceremony at the Argentine Embassy in Lima last week, a group of retired Peruvian Air Force (FAP) pilots were awarded the Argentine Air Force's (FAA) Order of Heroes of the Malvinas, in the grade of “Malvinas Medal for Contribution to the War Effort” in the 1982 South Atlantic conflict with the United Kingdom.

    Falklands Ride of Respect visits Islands' graves and memorials

    More Falklands riders met the group at the Great Britain Hotel area and accompanied them to Stanley.

    The Falklands Ride of Respect, sponsored by SAMA, South Atlantic Medal Association, is a group of Veterans that has been running for five years, visiting each Falklands conflict grave in the U.K. as well as many significant memorials as well.

    HMS Bristol: Falklands War destroyer up for sale

    A petition created in 2020 to save the HMS Bristol has garnered over 11,000 signatories

    The British Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA) said four decommissioned Royal Navy units, including the unique HMS Bristol, have been put up for sale. The Bristol belonged to Task Group 317.8 during the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas War. The three other vessels on sale are the frigates HMS Monmouth and HMS Montrose, and the minehunter HMS Walney.
