The Falkland Islands Supreme Court convened on September 20 for a hearing in relation to the ongoing constitutional issue on the matter of MLA Teslyn Barkman, with a decisive hearing scheduled for November 27.
The decision of the Executive Council made on March 29, 2022, to not allow large-scale aquaculture in the Falkland Islands is to undergo a judicial review following a judgment by Chief Justice James Lewis after a preliminary hearing in the Supreme Court on July 28, with the judgment delivered on August 3.
On instructions from the Secretary of State, His Excellency the Governor has formally appointed Mr James Lewis QC as the Honorable the Chief Justice of the Falkland Islands. Mr Lewis was officially sworn in by the Governor at a ceremony held at Government House on Thursday 4 January.
