
South America's LATAM Airlines Group has placed orders for 70 new short-haul Airbus A 320 aircraft to replace its currently ageing units of the same model, it was announced earlier this week.

LATAM will have to reimburse boarding fees to all those consumers who purchased air tickets and for different reasons were unable to travel. The decision is a Collective Voluntary Procedure from the Chilean National Consumer Service, Sernac and is estimated to benefit some 400,000 consumers involving some 600 million dollars.

The LATAM Group has applied to the US courts for authorization to sell nine Boeing 767-300 jets to the company JeTran. All aircraft are part of the Brazilian division of the airline, part of them stored due to the reduction of the flight network.

Falkland Islands lawmaker MLA Barry Elsby called for efforts to focus on keeping the country as Covid-19 free as possible.
