The Falkland Islands close relations and bonds with Uruguay were again confirmed this year by the delegation that spent a couple of weeks in the country visiting farms, agriculture research centres, plus promoting trade, tourism, science, education and the wonderful support from the British Hospital in Montevideo caring for our patients.

A group of the main Chilean universities travelled to the United Kingdom on an invitation from UK Universities, with the purpose of deepening links and greater opportunities for collaboration in areas such as research and innovation. This was a follow up mission to the 12 British universities that visited Chile last year to establish links with their counterparts.

The British and German embassies in Santiago hosted the first UK-Germany Climate Change Diplomacy Day. The joint initiative was organised to increase the awareness of the importance of climate change as it is a critical issue for both countries.
