The municipal government of Ushuaia, extreme south of Argentina and capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego has created a Malvinas Islands Secretariat, as part of the commemorations of the 40th anniversary of the Falklands' war.
Ushuaia officials and Malvinas war veterans have been meeting to start preparing the agenda of commemorations for the fortieth anniversary of the South Atlantic conflict next year.
Defense minister Agustín Rossi called on Argentines to claim sovereignty over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands with the same character displayed by the Argentine pilots during the 1982 South Atlantic conflict with the UK and underlined it's up to the new generations to make sure the Malvinas cause is not forgotten.

Argentina's secretary for Issues relative to the Malvinas Islands Daniel Filmus visited this week Guatemala as part of a tour of Central America to promote the 'Malvinas cause' and collect support from regional governments and institutions.
