    Lula welcomes Portugal's President and Prime Minister in Brazil

    Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva welcomed Portugal's Heads of State and Government Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Luís Montenegro respectively, to launch a series of bilateral vents to take place in the South American country. The Free Trade Agreement between Mercosur and the European Union (EU) will also be on the agenda. The Workers' Party leader had been to Portugal in 2023.

    Portuguese President wants EU-Mercosur deal ratified this year

    “If we choose the path of democracy, we choose the path of the dignity of the person,” Rebelo stressed

    Portugal's President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said Wednesday it was essential that an agreement between Mercosur and the European Union (EU) “be concluded as soon as possible,” Agencia Brasil reported. Rebelo made those remarks during a forum in Lisbon which was also attended by Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who is also the South American country's Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services.
