  Falkland Island’s participation in International hockey tournaments at Patagonia

  

  This year the Falkland Islands teams competed in two international ice hockey tournaments. Firstly two of our player/coaches took part in The Patagonian Brotherhood Cup held in Puerto Williams. They competed as part of the rest of the world team with players from other countries eventually taking 3rd place.

  Aurora Expeditions adds new Antarctic gateway in 2014/15

  

  Aurora Expeditions are set to shake up the traditional Antarctic cruise itinerary with the launch of an exciting new ‘Antarctic Gateway’ in their 2014/15 Antarctic program. The Chilean port and nature haven of Puerto Williams will be used as an alternative to the usual Argentinian port of Ushuaia, with voyages either starting or ending on the eco-rich Navarino Island along the Chilean banks of the Beagle Channel.

  Antarctica received an estimated 35.000 visitors this 2012/13 season, says IAATO

  

  An estimated 35.000 visitors enjoyed the pristine landscape of Antarctica during this last 2012/13 season, which represents a 32% increase over the previous period, according to IAATO, (International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators) and is responsible for 90% or these tours.

  Antarctica tour operators hold four-day annual meeting in Punta Arenas

  

  Punta Arenas in the extreme south of Chile will be hosting until next Thursday the four-day annual meeting of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators, IAATO which has a confirmed attendance of over a hundred representatives from the industry.
