    Surrounded by family and watched by those at the head of the UK’s closest allies, Admiral Tony Radakin took over on Wednesday from Admiral Sir Philip Jones as Britain’s most senior sailor. The torch of Naval leadership changed hands as Admiral Jones stepped down after three years at the helm as First Sea Lord – and 41 years serving his nation.

    Prince Andrew's determination to participate in the Falklands' conflict despite the Queen and Mrs. Thatcher strong doubts

     Prince Andrew who started his Royal Navy career in 1979, was a sub lieutenant when the conflict broke out and sailed to the war zone aboard the HMS Invincible.

    British media are recalling that Prince Andrew, the Queen's second son sailed to war in the Falkland Islands, back in 1982, making the sovereign and elected government officials of the time extremely fearful that he could become a target prize for the Argentine forces.

    Falklands announces Liberation Day 2019 anniversary program

    At 11.00am a ceremony will be held at the Liberation Monument in front of the Secretariat building

    To mark the Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentinean occupation in 1982, the following program has been arranged for Friday 14 June 2019. A thanksgiving service will be held in Christ Church Cathedral commencing at 9.45am.

In a piece published in the Daily Mail, Admiral Lord Alan West, former First Sea Lord, has spoken out after a British maritime museum began referring to ships it exhibits as “it” in a bid to appear gender neutral.

    HMS Montrose spots high seas' fuel transfer to North Korean tanker

    The team on board HMS Montrose gathered photographic evidence of the activity and this information has now been reported to the United Nations.

    The Royal Navy frigate HMS Montrose has successfully tracked an illegal fuel transfer at sea while conducting United Nations sanctions enforcement against North Korea. Working alongside Japanese partners, HMS Montrose spotted a North Korean ship in the East China Sea, alongside another ship of unknown nationality.

    HMS Clyde to be transferred to the Brazilian navy at the end of 2019

    HMS Clyde will be replaced by a new Batch 2 River class vessel, HMS Forth.

    Brazilian media are reporting that the country is to take over HMS Clyde when the Offshore Patrol Vessel leaves Royal Navy service in the Falkland Islands. The news was reportedly announced during a recent event, “Brazil-United Kingdom Defense Industry Dialogue”, held in the Brazilian Navy Cultural Center in São Paulo.

    Royal Navy has a new Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd

    The ceremony took place on board HMS Queen Elizabeth, one of the RN’s two new carriers which VAdm Kyd recently led through her maiden F-35 fighter jet trials.

    The Royal Navy’s new Fleet Commander has been formally appointed with a ceremony on board HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth. Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd takes up the role from outgoing Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Ben Key who is to become the Chief of Joint Operations at PJHQ, Northwood.
