  Three new South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands government coin designs have been released in recent months. The birth of His Royal Highness the Prince of Cambridge is marked by the release of a coin dated 2013, which is based on a coin originally released the previous year.

  Science to claim sovereignty: Argentina makes official its South Atlantic 'Blue Pampa' initiative

  

  Argentina made the official presentation to foreign diplomats in Buenos Aires of its “Blue Pampa” initiative described as an effort to collect more information on Argentine maritime spaces, surrounding areas and associated ecosystems, helping to create a South Atlantic conscience in the country. Five areas have been chosen to implement the initiative including South Georgia.

  Malvinas Secretariat officially inaugurated on Monday with Filmus as head

  

  Argentine former senator Daniel Filmus on Monday afternoon will be inaugurated as head of the newly created Secretariat of Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich Islands and adjoining maritime spaces in the South Atlantic Affairs, which will press forward with Argentine claims over those territories.

  South Georgia coin with privy mark to congratulate the Royal Couple

  

  Following the birth of His Royal Highness, the Prince of Cambridge, Pobjoy Mint has announced the release of three coins which have had a special privy mark added to them to congratulate the Royal Couple and to commemorate the historic occasion. The coins will be released on behalf of British Virgin Islands and South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands.
