    Corbyn and Labour pledge full support for Gibraltar's sovereignty

    Mr Corbyn gave of his “full support for Gibraltar and in particular his support for working people who might be affected by the process of the UK leaving the EU.”

The Commons European Scrutiny Committee said, while it did not want the UK to be seen in Brussels a “wrecker”, EU legislative changes could make a “significant difference” to the context of the Brexit negotiation.

Mrs. May made the statement after meeting at 10 Downing Street with the president of the European Council Donald Tusk for talks following the triggering of Article 50.

    Nigel Farage proposes a Gibraltar referendum to become part of the UK

    Farage said he supports holding a referendum giving Gibraltarians the chance to enjoy devolved powers such as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

    UK services sector grows stronger than expected during March

    The services sector, which accounts for three-quarters of the UK economy, said business activity and new work grew at the strongest rate so far this year.

    Activity in the UK's dominant services sector rose at a faster-than-expected pace in March. The Markit/CIPS purchasing managers' index (PMI) for services rose to 55, compared with economists' expectations of a slight increase to 53.5. The services sector, which accounts for three-quarters of the UK economy, said business activity and new work grew at the strongest rate so far this year.

    Prime Minister Theresa May has formally triggered Brexit using Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, with the UK due to leave in March 2019.

    MPs have warned about the UK and the EU failing to reach a Brexit agreement, urging the government to work out how much “no deal” would cost. The Brexit committee said ministers' claim that “no deal is better than a bad deal” was “unsubstantiated” until an economic assessment was published. But the report divided the cross-party committee, with some members saying it was too pessimistic about Brexit.

    Spain surprised by tone of UK comments on Gibraltar; CM Picardo critical of EU Council president Tusk

    “The Spanish government is a little surprised by the tone of comments coming out of Britain, a country known for its composure,” Dastis said.

    Spain’s Foreign Minister Alfonso Dastis called on Tuesday for calm in the row over Gibraltar’s inclusion in the EU guidelines, adding that he was surprised by the reactions in Britain. He was speaking amid a media frenzy after the EU said in its guidelines that Spain must agree before any future trade deal between the UK and the EU can be extended to Gibraltar.
