The United Kingdom Ice Patrol HMS Protector is expected this week in Buenos Aires on her return trip from the Antarctica season. The visit is seen as evidence of the renewed and improved UK/Argentina bilateral relations, both politically and in defense issues. Read full article

It'll be interesting to see if there's any reaction. Under the Kirchners it would have been guaranteed. Under Macri, I'm not so sure.

Under the Kircheners it would be impossible for Argentina to ask for UK assistance or for them to invite the ship to call at an Argentine port.

This is going to be the first time since the Malvinas War that a Royal Navy ship docks in an argentine port. The first time was when the old Royal Navy icebreaker needed assistance in Puerto Belgrano. The second was when the “international force” tried to find the ARA San Juan. Just only three times in 36 years. It is my understanding that this is the first “regular” visit. I still ask myself who took any advantage with the war.

Honestly, I don't know whether this visit is something good or not. Time will say.....

pgerman - its called goodwill and reconciliation between 2 parties who were once at war but would like to get on with each and just agree to differ on an issue.
Royal Navy and Spanish navy get on and co-operate and do not let their Gibralter difference get in he way - well expect in Gib waters at times!

My guess is sometime next summer we might even see a joint RN&RAF- ARA &FAA exercise in the south atlantic simulating a large cruise ship emergency and how both sides could pool resources to rescue.

As I said earlier its the numpties, and uneducated brainwashed scroungers like Twinkle and Narcos who perpetuate the hate and the mythical malvinas myth, not the Macri government. Hopefully these noxious people are now being gradually sidelined and we can move on.
