  Malcorra behind the Portuguese candidate in her bid to become UN secretary-general

  

  Argentine foreign minister Susana Malcorra visited Cairo courting Egyptian support for her bid to become the next UN secretary-general, following on from her visit to Angola earlier in the week. The minister also met with secretary-general of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. However the emergent frontrunner to succeed Ban Kimoon is ex Portuguese prime minister is Antonio Guterres.

  Argentina had 9.3% unemployment in the second quarter of the year, the government's Indec statistics agency said in a report on Tuesday. It was the first official unemployment data to be published by Argentina since Mauricio Macri became president in December.

  “Time to recover Falklands/Malvinas dialogue”

  

  Discussions between the UK and Argentina in 1980 referred to the Falkland Islands dispute have been reconstructed by an Argentine researcher bringing together recent documents from Britain's National Archives and the memoirs of two prominent members of the military government of the time in Buenos Aires, Finance minister Jose Alfredo Martinez de Hoz and the ambassador in the UK, Carlos Ortiz de Rozas.

  Falklands allows return of abandoned Argentine yacht rescued in Islands waters last October

  

  The Argentine flagged yacht “La Sanmartiniana” which was rescued in October 2015 while abandoned and adrift, by a Falkland Islands Fisheries Protection Vessel and towed to Stanley, where it has remained since waiting for claimants, has finally been released, after the Argentine group FIPCA complied with all the formalities for its recovery.
