  Uruguayan pulp mill passes pollution tests - Gualeguaychú not quite

  

  An Argentine-Uruguayan commission took 50 samples of effluent from the pulp mill off Fray Bentos and as many in the Gualeguaychú mouth of the river in Entre Rios. Botnia passes test. The reports from the samples collected on the Argetine side recorded more polluting than those found off Fray Bentos. The plant's formal name is “Orion” but is widely known for its original Finnish name Botnia.

  Argentina 2016/17 wheat production estimated at 14.4m tons and 8m tons exports

  

  Argentina’s wheat production is estimated at 14.4 million tons in 2016-17 and total exports are estimated at 8.03 million tons, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Services (FAS) said in its latest report. The main market is expected to be Brazil, the historic, natural market for Argentine wheat and flour.

  Falklands/Malvinas: Ibero-American summit supports Argentine claim and calls for dialogue with UK

  

  Argentine foreign minister Susana Malcorra thanked countries attending the XXV IberoAmerian summit in Colombia for their support to Argentina's sovereignty claim over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands and the compliance of UN resolutions calling for dialogue with the UK. A brief release from the Argentine ministry said “we are grateful for the support we have received from the IberoAmerican space on the Malvinas question”.

  South Atlantic deep water seismic survey between YPF and Norway's Statoil

  

  Argentina's oil company YPF and Norway's Statoil have signed a cooperation agreement to further gather information on Argentina's offshore potential. The accord was signed in Oslo between YPF CEO Ricardo Darré and Statoil Exploration vice president Tim Dodson.

  Falklands celebrating 30 years of the Fishery that transformed the Islands

  

  The Falklands Islands are recalling a milestone decision for the development and transformation of the economy of the country. On October 29, 1986 a Proclamation declaring the Interim Falklands Conservation and Management Zone was signed by Governor Gordon Jewkes. Director of Natural Resources, John Barton pointed out at a presentation on Wednesday evening to mark 30 years of Falkland Fisheries.
