  Power emergency extended for another 60 days in Venezuela

  

  Venezuela extended for another sixty days the national power emergency which has first imposed last February to address the energy crisis punishing the country. The new extension was published in the Official Gazette 7 June, effective June 8 and follows on the previous 60 days period from April.

  Falklands’ Rockhopper raises £48.5 million to fund more offshore drilling operations

  

  Rockhopper Exploration announced on Tuesday it had raised £48.5m from the stock market to fund its drilling operations off the Falklands Islands. Last week Rockhopper revealed that its first well in the North Falkland Basin, called Sea Lion, had found much more oil than expected.

  Wales will have the largest offshore wind farms in the world

  

  Construction work will begin next year on one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world, an energy firm has announced. The £2 billion Gwynt y Mor wind farm will have 160 wind turbines around 10 miles off the north Wales coast near Colwyn Bay and Llandudno.

  Oil drilling begins in unexplored Falkland Islands’ south east waters

  

  Falkland Oil & Gas (FOGL) in association with BHP Billiton became the third oil company this year to begin exploratory drilling operations in Falkland Islands’ waters according to a Tuesday release from the company.
