  RFA Black Rover back in UK after 17-month deployment in the Atlantic

  

  The second-oldest vessel in the Naval Service, veteran tanker RFA Black Rover, a well known presence in the Falkland Islands, has completed her penultimate deployment, a marathon of 17 months in the Atlantic. No Royal Navy vessel can carry out a patrol in the Southern Hemisphere without the support of a Royal Fleet Auxiliary tanker – a duty performed in recent years by a Rover-class vessel.

  Falklands' visit of MPs postponed until after UK general election in May

  

  The visit of two Members of the British Parliament to the Falkland Islands, as announced last week has been cancelled. However the invitation to visit the Islands remains open and hopefully it will take place next year.

  Falklands' British 'colonial occupation' condemned by Parlasur

  

  The Mercosur parliament, Parlasur, in a special Monday session held in Montevideo, rejected British 'control' over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands and described the situation as a colonial conflict of 'global' proportion which threatens the region.

  The Falklands/Malvinas dispute and 'colonialism' will be discussed on Monday during an extraordinary session of the Mercosur Parliament, Parlasur, in Montevideo with the attendance of Argentine and Uruguayan foreign ministers Hector Timerman and Luis Almagro.

  Latam Energy Organization approves statement on “Malvinas sovereignty”

  

  Energy ministers from the Latin American Energy Organization, OLADE, meeting in San Salvador approved last Friday a statement on “Malvinas Islands sovereignty” referred to the “illegal hydrocarbons exploration and exploitation undertaken in the Islands surrounding waters”, points out a release from the Argentine Foreign ministry.

  Falklands' guardian HMS Clyde braves storms for routine South Georgia visit

  

  Falkland Islands guardian HMS Clyde braved spring storms to pay her first visit of the Austral summer to the wildlife paradise of South Georgia. The patrol ship crossed 850 miles of ocean to reach the remote island – part of its domain as the Royal Navy’s permanent presence in the Falklands – to work with British Antarctic Survey scientists and generally fly the flag for the UK.
