    Venezuela offers humanitarian help to war-torn Lebanon

    Maduro met with Lebbos at the Miraflores Palace

    President Nicolás Maduro Thursday said Venezuela would be helping Lebanon through the current crisis due to Israel's offensive. During a meeting with Beirut's Ambassador in Caracas Elías Lebbos at the Miraflores Palace, the Chavista leader said that humanitarian brigades would be sent to the war-torn area and ratified the South American nation's support to Beirut against Tel Aviv.

    British Indian Ocean Territory of Chagos to be handed over to Mauritius

    Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth issued a joint statement with Keir Starmer outlining the details of the new understanding ahead of a final treaty

    The Government of Labour Prime Minister Keir Starmer agreed Thursday to hand over sovereignty over the British Indian Ocean Territory Chagos Islands to Mauritius after two years of talks to bring to an end a dispute lasting some six decades. As per the new understanding, the UK and the United States get to keep using the military base in Diego García Island, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy explained.

    Chagos Archipelago: Political Agreement between the UK and Mauritius

    The UK Government has confirmed today (Thursday 3 October) that it has reached a political agreement on the exercise of sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago. Today’s political agreement is subject to the finalisation of a treaty. Under the terms of this treaty the United Kingdom will agree that Mauritius is sovereign over the Chagos Archipelago, including Diego Garcia.

    UK “green milestone”, the last power station fueled by coal has finished

    The first coal-fired power station in the world, the Holborn Viaduct plant was built in 1882 in London by Thomas Edison - bringing light to the streets of the capital.

    UK's last coal power station, at Ratcliffe-on-Soar, finished operations on Monday September 30th, after running since 1967 and ending 142 years of reliance on the fossil fuel. The milestone is a major event in UK's ambitions to reduce its contribution to climate change. Coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel producing the most greenhouse gases when burnt.
