  Former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, accused of witness tampering and bribery, asked the Senate to ignore his resignation letter so that his case remains with the Supreme Court. Uribe, who was in office from 2002 to 2010 and mounted a military offensive against Marxist guerrillas, said on Monday he would resign his seat in the Senate to concentrate on his defense after the Supreme Court called on him to testify.

Average monthly discovered volumes are 826 million barrels of oil equivalent. This is a 30% increase from 2017.

  Taiwan president will attend inauguration of Paraguay's Mario Abdo Benitez

  Nicaragua's protracted political crisis, which has lasted well over three months, is impairing economic growth, according to the central bank. Central bank chief Ovidio Reyes said the initial 4.9% growth forecast in gross domestic product (GDP) for 2018 could fall as low as 1% if ongoing protests continue to disrupt daily life.
