YPF case: NY Court of Appeals rules in favor of Argentina

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York has suspended a lower court's order that required Argentina to transfer 51% of its shares of the state oil company YPF to a New York bank. This overruling of Judge Loretta Preska's Sept. 2023 order is a significant win for Buenos Aires, as it allows the South American country to appeal the $16 billion judgment without having to surrender a key state asset

Former Bolivian minister arrested for illicit enrichment

Former Bolivian Minister of Environment and Water, Alan Lisperguer, was arrested in Cochabamba and transferred to La Paz to face charges of illicit enrichment and knowingly submitting inaccurate affidavits.

Putin lands in Alaska for Summit with Trump

Presidents Donald Trump of the United States and Vladimir Putin of Russia met in Anchorage, Alaska, to discuss a potential cease-fire in Ukraine. The summit, titled “Pursuing Peace,” took place at a US military base and was the seventh face-to-face encounter between the two leaders. The gathering also featured delegations from both countries.

Falklands, Students celebrate A Level and Level 3 Results with 98% pass rate

On Thursday, 14 August, twenty-two Falkland Islands students who have been studying at schools and colleges for A levels and other Level 3 qualifications received their results. Three students received their results earlier due to studying in New Zealand and Scotland.

Falklands, New Principal at Infant Junior School and Camp Education

The Falkland Islands Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Shelley Short as the new Principal of the Infant Junior School and Camp Education (IJS&CE). Shelley has been IJS&CE’s Deputy Principal since August 2024 and will take up her new role at the start of the school year in September 2025, following a thorough handover with outgoing Principal, Gaynor Kilmister.
