    “Don't vacation in Cordoba because that province despises the rest of Argentina” reads a slogan massively launched by Kirchner followers in retaliation for the overwhelming support of that province to president-elect Mauricio Macri, 71% to 28% for Daniel Scioli, Cristina Fernandez handpicked presidential candidate.

    Macri names ambassadors to Washington and Montevideo

    The appointment was decided after a meeting Lousteau held with the new cabinet chief Marcos Peña and future Foreign Affairs Minister Susana Malcorra

    President-elect Mauricio Macri named ambassador to Washington and Montevideo. Lawmaker Martín Lousteau will be Argentina's next ambassador in the US. He will replace Cecilia Nahón, who submitted her resignation on Monday. The appointment was decided after a meeting Lousteau held with the new cabinet chief Marcos Peña and the future Foreign Affairs Minister Susana Malcorra, a Let’s Change statement affirmed.

    Argentina will have a state of the art fisheries research vessel in 2017

    Dr. Wöhler underlined that the sound proof issue was repeatedly discussed and the main reason for having the vessel built in Spain and not in Argentina

    Argentina's Fisheries Research and Development Institute, INIDEP, has signed the contract for the construction of a new fisheries and oceanographic research vessel to be built at the Armon shipyard in Vigo, Spain. The financing for the vessel and refurbishing of INIDEP's offices and labs comes from the Inter-American Development bank with a 30m dollars loan.

    Francis non papal message to Macri: 'a simple matter of protocol'

    There is no tradition of best wishes to the newly elected heads of state, and in fact no Argentine president elect has ever received a 'papal phone call'.

    How come the Argentine born pope Francis did not send a congratulation telegram, or formal message to president elect Mauricio Macri on his victory, has been an ongoing question. But Vatican sources pointed out there was no special reason for that attitude, but merely “a simple matter of protocol”.

    British bombers take off from Cyprus after parliament vote on Syria

    The UK parliament voted 397 in favor of action and 223 against, following a 10-hour debate.

    Brazilian executive order to further cut budget spending

    The Central Bank said on Monday that Brazil posted a primary budget deficit of 20 billion reais (about $5.24 billion) in the January-October period.

    Brazilian government said in an executive order published Monday in the Official Daily that it was cutting spending by an additional 11 billion reais ($2.82 billion) this year. The move is part of an effort by the government to a budget deficit target of 1 percent of the gross domestic product, a goal agreed to during the last budget review.

    Brazilian economy contracts a record 4.5% in the last twelve months

    GDP contracted by 3.2% between Jan and Sept, and has decreased in three consecutive quarters, reaching the forecast contraction for the full year

    Brazil's economy, in recession since mid-year, contracted 1.7% in the third quarter, compared to the April-June period, and decreased 4.5% relative to the same period in 2014, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, or IBGE, said on Tuesday.

    Facebook's Zuckerberg will give away 99% of shares to good causes

    The donation will be to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Zuckerberg said the donation currently amounts to $45bn.

    Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan say they will give away 99% of their shares in the company to good causes as they announce the birth of their daughter Max. Zuckerberg made the announcement in a letter to Max on his Facebook page.
