  Argentina's Cabinet Chief Anibal Fernandez and the Presidential Legal and Technical secretary Carlos Zannini led on Monday celebrations in Chubut to mark the 150th anniversary of the Welsh community that settled in the Patagonian province. The event took place in Puerto Madryn overlooking the Golfo Nuevo.

  UK ambassador in Buenos Aires John Freeman met with Chubut province governor Martin Buzzi in Rawson to work out the agenda of activities scheduled for the end of the month when Wales First Minister Carwyn Jones is expected to arrive for the 150th anniversary celebration of Welsh immigration to Argentina, reports the local media, Diario Jornada.

  Photo exhibition on Welsh settlers in Argentina, opened at Westminster

  

  Parliament in London is hosting a week-long historic photographic exhibition dedicated to the Welsh settlement in Argentina, entitled: “Y Wladfa: Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Welsh settlement in Argentina” which was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by Argentine Ambassador to the UK, Alicia Castro, and David T.C Davies MP, chairman of the House of Commons Welsh Affairs Committee.

  Wales and Argentina celebrate 150th anniversary of migration to Patagonia

  

  Argentina and Wales celebrated on Monday at the National Assembly for Wales, in Cardiff, their historical links with a reception especially dedicated to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the first Welsh settlers to Patagonia. Musicians from both nations gave a concert and a photography exhibition on the Welsh settlements in Patagonia was inaugurated.

  Argentine Ambassador in the United Kingdom, Alicia Castro, and the Welsh First Minister, Carwyn Jones, who will visit Argentina this year, jointly inaugurated in Cardiff celebrations commemorating the settlement of the Welsh in Argentina in 1865. Several activities have been planned both in Patagonia and Wales to celebrate the 150th anniversary.
