  An overwhelming majority of Argentines, 76%, are concerned with the financial turbulence and deeply dissatisfied with the poor performance of the economy according to a monthly survey from the University of San Andrés, its lowest point since the peak reached in October 2017 following the victory of president Mauricio Macri's coalition in the midterm elections.

  Argentina defense minister insists that Armed forces will not intervene in social conflicts

  

  Defense Minister Oscar Aguad has rejected the idea that modifications to the Defense Bill will give Argentina's Armed Forces the power to intervene in social conflicts.   Argentine military will be involved in domestic security issues, announces Macri

  

  In a radical reform of Argentina's defense doctrine, President Mauricio Macri said on Monday he is removing a ban on military involvement in fighting crime, terrorist threats and other internal security issues. Macri said he will modify a 2006 decree that limited the armed forces to defense against attacks by another country.

  Over 1.500 companies were operating in Argentina's mining sector in 2016

  

  Argentina last polled its mining sector a decade ago but this month some results from a census carried out in 2016 were made public. The Indec document available online says that over 1,500 mining companies were operating in Argentina in 2016. Their extractive activities generated US$ 1,329 million while their processing activities generated US$ 2,386 million.
