  Argentina takes delivery of the last of four French-built OPVs

  

  Argentina has taken delivery of the new OPV ARA Contraalmirante Cordero built in France's shipyard in the city of Concarneau. It is the fourth and last unit from a contract signed in 2018.

  Argentine Navy to launch second LICA next week

  

  The Río Santiago Shipyards (ARS) are ready to launch their second cadet training boat (LICA) March 16, it was reported Tuesday, after the ARA Ciudad de Ensenada hit the waters in October last year. The new boat will be named ARA Ciudad de Berisso.

  Argentina approves funds for a new polar vessel, to be built with Finnish consultants

  

  The Argentine government has approved the funds for the design and construction of a new polar vessel to complement the activities of ice breaker ARA Almirante Irizar in her task of delivering provisions to the Argentine thirteen Antarctic bases. Works and design will be undertaken by the government-owned shipyard Tandanor and Finland's consulting firm Aker Arctic, with the funds allotted totaling 69 million Argentine pesos ( some US$ 6,5 million) and 7 million Euros.

  Work to fully reopen Argentina's Petrel Base in Antarctica goes on

  

  Argentine Navy's ARA Puerto Argentino sloop has sucessfully unloaded supplies and machinery this week at the Petrel Base in Antarctica, it was reported. A self-propelled pontoon built entirely at the Tandanor–CINAR shipyard was used for the reconstruction of this base, which is returning to permanent service after nearly 50 years.

  Argentine navy rescues stranded Russian scientific vessel in Antarctica

  

  An Argentine Navy vessel from the Antarctic Combined Patrol shared with Chile, and currently on duty, helped to rescue the Russian scientific vessel “Professor Logachev”, which was stranded and with no self-propulsion at Lasserre Bay, next to the Polish Antarctic Station Arctowski in King George Island.

  The Argentine Río Santiago Shipyard (ARS) is to launch the 94th Navy Cadet Instruction Boat (LICA) Ciudad de Ensenada this coming Monday, Oct. 18, which will mark the facility's first delivery after nine years, during which it was on the brink of bankruptcy.
