  Falklands’ delegation meets in Panama with keen interest in referendum results

  Falkland Islands’ success in Colombia: debate at leading university and speech before Congress

  

  A Falkland Islands delegation concluded this week a very successful visit to Colombia where they not only met with local authorities and lawmakers but also addressed the Lower House of Congress and were able to express loud and clear the Islanders’ message born out of the recent referendum in which they overwhelmingly voted to remain a British Overseas Territory.

  Falklands confirms £ 26m fishing and oil ‘windfalls’ only for the Consolidated Fund

  

  The Falkland Islands government at a public meeting defended their position of not including in the annual budget what they described as ‘windfalls’ from fishing and oil and instead adding the ‘exceptional” excess revenue to the Consolidated Fund.

  MLA Hansen takes over Falklands’ Minerals portfolio following controversy

  

  Member of Legislative Assembly Ian Hansen will assume responsibility for the Falklands’ government Minerals portfolio after MLA Barry Elsby relinquished the post due to a conflict of interest. The brief release from Gilbert House adds that MLA Hansen has prior experience in the Minerals portfolio adding that MLA Jan Cheek will continue as the second portfolio holder.

  Falklands’ referendum: CFK letter to PM Cameron distributed to UN General Assembly members

  

  The open letter sent by Argentine president Cristina Fernandez to Prime Minister David Cameron demanding the return of the Falkland Islands, which allegedly were “forcibly stripped” from Buenos Aires in 1833 will be distributed as a document among members of the UN General Assembly, on request from the Argentine ambassador Maria Perceval.

  Falklands’ lawmakers at BOT meeting with UK ministers in London
