    “Gibraltar forms part of the UK”, British ambassador Manley tells Spanish media

    Ambassador Manley's comments about Gibraltar are in direct contrast to the view expressed by Spain that insists Gibraltar cannot form part of the UK’s exit deal.

    Gibraltar will be included in whatever deal the United Kingdom negotiates to leave the European Union, Britain’s ambassador to Spain has said. Simon Manley made the comment during a wide-ranging interview with the right-wing Spanish newspaper ABC, during which he also made clear “there is no turning back” from Brexit.

    Large banks are getting ready to relocate out of the UK early next year over fears around Brexit, the British Bankers' Association (BBA) has warned. Writing in The Observer its boss Anthony Browne also says smaller banks could move operations overseas by 2017.

    Irish Finance Minister Michael Noonan said Brexit prompted his department to reduce its GDP forecast to 3.5% for 2017.

    The Irish government said on Tuesday it has introduced a number of specific measures to help firms that might be affected by the uncertainty caused by Britain's vote to leave the European Union (EU). The measures include an extension of the Special Assignee Relief Program, which gives designated individuals income tax relief for work done in the country until the end of 2020.
