  Falklands: website of the Islands’ Dictionary of Biographies 2025 success

  

  2025 saw an increase in the number of ‘hits’ on the website of the Dictionary of Falklands Biography, DBF. The total number of hits was 27,025, a substantial increase on the previous year’s figure of 22,257.

  January 23rd., 1765 is a milestone date for the Falkland Islands, the first time the Union Jack was erected and displayed in the Islands, which were then taken formal possession for the British Crown.

  The Dictionary of Falklands Biography Website, a new and expanding resource for the Islands' history

  

  The website for the Dictionary of Falklands Biography is proving capable of significant expansion. Designed and established by Tom McAdam in 2018, the editor David Tatham and the researcher Stephen Palmer have used the freedom offered by a website in a number of ways.

  Falklands' Dictionary of Biographies, from text to a new website

  

  The entire text of the fantastically informative Dictionary of Falklands Biography has been placed on a new website www.falklandsbiographies.org. In addition to the original 476 biographies, six new names have been added and more are to follow. Among the newcomers are Constance Allardyce, the wife of Governor Sir William, who was a respected palaeontologist and expert on Falklands fossils (written by Dr Phil Stone).
