    Another RAF Falklands/Sao Paulo flight “surprises” Argentine and Brazilian diplomacy

    “We know it was a military supply trip, as all previous flights from the Islands to Brazil”, Dinatale quotes an Argentine government official

    An RAF transport aircraft last week allegedly made a two-day return trip to Sao Paulo from MPA in the Falkland Islands, according to a report from columnist Martin Dinatale, based on sources from the Argentine Defense ministry. The aircraft was an Airbus 330 which left MPA on Sunday 12 March at 22:44, and landed in Sao Paulo at 2:47 early Monday March 13. On 14 March at 23:47 the Airbus returned to the Falklands.

    Argentina authorizes a low cost airline to fly Falklands/Comodoro Rivadavia

    The American Jet fifteen-year concession must begin operations “in the next 180 days” following attainment of the Air Service Provider Certificate.

    The Argentine Ministry of Transport awarded American Jet authorization for an air link between Comodoro Rivadavia, in Patagonia and the Falkland Islands, according to Resolution 136-E/2017 published in the Official Gazette and signed by minister Guillermo Dietrich.

    Falklands' Law compliance needed for any Islands' major assets change of ownership

    “The Government of the Falkland Islands has noted with interest, Dolphin Fund’s communication with FIH shareholders on March 14” said the FIG release.

    The Falkland Islands government, FIG, stated on Friday that any proposal change of ownership affecting assets held in the Islands will be scrutinized for compliance with Falklands law. The statement follows the Argentine Dolphin Fund's announcement to the London Stock Exchange, earlier this week, of its interest in taking over the private company Falkland Islands Holdings, FIH.

    Falklands' lawmakers reject Argentine “sovereignty document” scam

    An Argentine antique dealer who offered to sell a copy of an old document that he claimed would destroy the Argentine historical case for sovereignty over the Falklands, has been turned down. According to this week's Penguin News edition, the Secretary of the group Asociación Civil de Amigos Malvinas/Falklands (ACAMF) Gabriel Di Bernardo made contact with the Islands in October last year.

    Falklands' deminer recovering from injuries during a clearance operation accident

    Mr. Unsung said Mr. Mandava who is an experienced deminer, had carried out all of his drills correctly on the day of the accident.

    Deminer Rodgers Mandava working to clear minefields in the Falkland Islands, was injured during an accident in a Moody Valley clearance operation on February 27, has recovered well from his injuries and work has resumed in the area, according to a report published by the Penguin News.

    Falklands' television service to be fully restored this month; new transmitter on Sapper Hill

    The teams are planning to undertake this work on Tuesday 21st March, however the works are very much weather dependent, so this date is still to be confirmed.

    Falklands' television viewers in Stanley will be able by the end of the month, weather permitting, to again have a full service of its former level of transmission. A release from the Falklands government recalls that viewers are well aware of the problems encountered over the last nine month, caused by the TV transmitter falling from the mast on Sapper Hill.

    Falklands announces new demolitions on Friday, as part of the demining project

    The site for the demolition is 2km to the West of the old Moody Brook Barracks in the Moody Valley.

    Falklands Islands demining project is advancing steadily and demolitions are planned for next Friday in the Moody Valley, west of Stanley. The demolitions are part of the several phases, several years, project to clear the Falklands of the mines planted by the Argentine military during the occupation of the Islands in 1982.

    Falklands governor will deliver the Queen's Commonwealth message

    A full program of activities has been planned for this Monday, Commonwealth Day, by the Falkland Islands government. Students and staff from the Falklands Community School will raise the Commonwealth Flag at 08:00, and an hour later the Falklands Junior School together with Defence Force, FIDF, officers will raise the Commonwealth Flag on Victory Green, and the Speaker is to read the Commonwealth Affirmation.

    Young Falkland Islanders with a taste for politics will be holding this Monday a special meeting of the Commonwealth Day Youth Parliament.
