  Falklands recognizes the twelve year service of HMS Clyde

  

  A special service has been held at Christ Church Cathedral on the Falkland Islands to celebrate the work of a long-standing community member - HMS Clyde. The Royal Navy's River-class vessel is recognized as the Falklands patrol ship, having been dedicated to the South Atlantic for the last 12 years.

  The Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) has kicked off Monday morning at the Speke Resort Munyonyo. Uganda, with closed meetings of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) regional secretaries. A delegation from the Falkland Islands is attending the meeting.

  First-ever Falklands competition in a full sized international Cup: Hockey medallists in Miami

  

  The Falkland Islands competed in the LATAM Cup in Coral Springs FL, for the first time ever this year and came away with two medals, one each for the under 16’s and the senior team. This is the first time the Falkland Islands has ever competed in this size of tournament and on a full-sized rink.

  Image of Virgin of Lujan taken to Falklands during the war to be returned at ceremony blessed by the Pope

  

  An image of Argentina's saint patron, the Virgin of Lujan, which was carried to the Falklands during the 1982 conflict, and remained unaccounted for during years, will be returned by the United Kingdom. In retribution, the Argentine military bishop will hand a replica of the image to the head of British military chaplains in a ceremony to take place next month in the Vatican with Pope Francis blessing the images.

  Falklands bound cargo unloaded at East Cove Port, following the FIPASS incident

  Falkland Islands: new Director of Natural Resources next month

  

  The Falkland Islands Government has announced the appointment of Dr Andrea Clausen as the new Director of Natural Resources. Andrea is due to take up her post in October 2019 and will be working with John Barton to ensure that there is a unified approach to the handover of duties across the agriculture, fisheries and veterinary departments. This appointment comes following a comprehensive search and selection process.
