  Falkland Islander will be one of the captains of Australia's new state of the art icebreaker

  

  Australia’s new icebreaker, RSV Nuyina, is scheduled to make its maiden voyage to Antarctica in 2020-21. Two captains have already been named to lead the alternating crews operating the new vessel. They are Captain Scott Laughlin and Falkland Islander Captain Paul Clarke, both with experienced track records working in the Southern Ocean.

On that date, the electorate will be asked to vote on whether there should be two constituencies, Stanley and Camp, or if there should be one constituency for the whole of the Falkland Islands.

  Falklands/UK airbridge will continue via Cape Verde; Ascension runway may not be repaired until 2022

  

  The contract to repair the 3,000-meter runway at RAF Ascension Island has yet to be awarded, and work may not be complete until 2022. It has been partially closed since April 2017. This means the Falkland Islands/Brize Norton airbridge will continue to operate through Cape Verde.

  Falklands' Mare Harbour Ro-Ro facility upgraded for Point Class vessels

  

  UK/Dutch VolkerStevin was contracted for the of upgrading Mare Harbour in the Falkland Islands, a job which was completed six weeks ahead of schedule and within budget. The improvements to the roll on roll off jetty were part of a £19m contract with VolkerStevin for design and construction.
