The Executive Council has considered a paper on retirement for members of the Falkland Islands Pension Scheme (FIPS), and approved a move towards greater pension flexibility.

James Wilson is the new Financial Secretary within the Falkland Islands Government. A position some think is the equivalent to the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the UK Government. There are, however, some major differences: James is not a politician but a civil servant.
The market value of all Falkland Islands Government, FIG, investment funds have increased from £285 million in June 2015, to £309 million in June 2016 and to £344 million in June 2017.
The Falkland Islands Government has announced the appointment of James Wilson as its Financial Secretary. After a short handover period with Lydia Morrison - who is currently the Interim Financial Secretary - he will formally take up his role on 1 June 2017.
