Residents of the Falkland Islands annually mark one of the early major naval battles of the First World War, which took place off the coast of the Islands. This year the event was commemorated with a traditional parade, made up of Members of the Falkland Islands Defence Force.

Falkland Islands newly‐elected Members of Legislative Assembly have assigned their portfolio responsibilities for the term of office. There are eight portfolios in total, each one being assigned an MLA as main portfolio‐holder, and a second MLA who will act as deputy portfolio‐holder. Falkland Islands will be holding the annual Service of Remembrance on Sunday 10 November at Christ Church Cathedral. Governor Neil Haywood, Commander British Forces, Members of the Legislative Assembly, visiting and resident South Atlantic veterans, together with Senior Officers of the Armed Services will be attending the Service.
The constitution of the Falkland Islands requires that a general election be held every four years to choose the eight members of the Islands’ Legislative Assembly or lower house of government. The next General Election is due to be held on November 7th this year.
Falkland Islands are holding elections next 7 November and eleven candidates will be disputing the five Legislative Assembly seats for Stanly and five the three for the Camp.
A more permanent integrated type of immigration for the Falkland Islands is a strong message that has come out of a consultation with Falklands residents, in the preparation for a socio-economic study of oil and gas development in the South Atlantic British Overseas Territory.
