  Venezuela's Foreign Ministry started talks with its Chilean and Peruvian counterparts to coordinate flights whereby migrants stranded on the border between these two countries can be flown back to Caracas, it was reported.

  Venezuelan migrant crisis sparks diplomatic clash between Chile and Peru

  

  Peru's Foreign Ministry Thursday Chilean ambassador Óscar Fuentes as thousands of Venezuelan migrants are trying to cross into the country from the southern border to “protest for the lack of collaboration shown by the Chilean police authorities, which has generated the events that occurred today” when a group tried to force their way into the country and circumvent the police checkpoints.

  Peruvian authorities have declared a state of emergency across its areas bordering Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, and Chile in a move to curb a surge in crime President Dina Boluarte claims is linked to migrant offenders. While the measure is in force, certain constitutional rights such as the inviolability of the home, freedom of transit, freedom of assembly, and personal freedom and security are restricted or suspended.

  At least 38 people were killed and 28 injured in a fire at a migrant detention center in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez, on the border with the United States, according to the Mexican government. The fire broke out on Monday night in the facilities of the National Migration Institute (INM) in the state of Chihuahua.
