    Falklands/UK airbridge will continue via Cape Verde; Ascension runway may not be repaired until 2022

    Voyager aircraft currently serve the twice a week airbridge flight from RAF Brize Norton to the Falklands via Cape Verde

    The contract to repair the 3,000-meter runway at RAF Ascension Island has yet to be awarded, and work may not be complete until 2022. It has been partially closed since April 2017. This means the Falkland Islands/Brize Norton airbridge will continue to operate through Cape Verde.

    UK Armed Forces minister visits Chile and Uruguay

    The United Kingdom Minister for the Armed Forces was in Chile and Uruguay as part of a visit to South America in the framework of increasing closer bilateral relations. The Rt Hon Mark Lancaster TD MP, made an official visit to Chile in order to further strengthen the strong defense relation between the two countries.

The Annual Service will be held in Christ Church Cathedral commencing at 9.30 am. Governor Colin Roberts CVO, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Defense personnel, veterans and reserves MP Mark Lancaster, Commander British Forces Commodore Darren Bone, RN, Members of the Legislative Assembly, visiting and resident Veterans, together with Senior Officers of the Armed Services will be attending this Service.

    MP Mark Lancaster will represent UK government at Falklands’ Remembrance ceremonies

    MP Lancaster is a junior minister in the Ministry of Defence and a Lieutenant Colonel in the Reserve Forces.

    Milton Keynes North MP Mark Lancaster will be in the Falkland Islands for Remembrance Sunday as the British Government’s representative. HRH the Duke of Kent will also be attending the ceremonies.
