
After going no contact for over a year, Presidents Joseph Biden of the United States and Xi Jinping of China met Wednesday in San Francisco on the sides of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.

San Francisco is finalizing its arrangements for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit during which a key meeting between Presidents Joseph Biden of the United States and Xi Jinping of China is expected to take place on Nov. 15. Xi and Biden will get together to discuss a range of “potentially contentious” topics including the need for military-to-military dialogue.

“China’s top legislature voted to appoint Wang Yi as foreign minister… as it convened a session on Tuesday,” state media outlet Xinhua said. “Qin Gang was removed from the post of foreign minister.” No reason was given for Qin’s removal, however, state media reported that President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order to enact the decision.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva was offered a grand welcome by his Chinese colleague Xi Jinping as both leaders set out the guidelines for a partnership that will undoubtedly play a role in world events. China will open new opportunities for Brazil, Xi said.

Brazilian president Lula da Silva begins today a four day official visit to China, (April 11/14), hosted by Xi Jinping at a time when both leaders have great foreign policy plans: Lula wants Brazil back in the grand chessboard and Xi is intent in trying to present his country as a global power that can rival (defy) the US.
