    Uruguayan tourism authorities included the riverside city of Colonia del Sacramento as yet another possible destination for cruise ships already making calls at Montevideo and Punta del Este. Deputy Tourism Minister Renzo Monzeglio headed the South American country's delegation which participated in the recent Seatrade Cruise Global 2023, arguably the most important cruise fair in the world, held at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in the US State of Florida.

    Strike in UK: Important information for British passport holders

    All passengers wishing to travel on the South Atlantic Airbridge require at least 6 months validity remaining on their passport

    The Customs & Immigration Service would like to inform the public that a strike is planned by staff of the UK Passport Office for five weeks between 3 April to 5 May in England, Scotland and Wales – in a dispute about jobs, pay and conditions. A quarter of the Passport Office’s 4000 employees are expected to take part in the strike.

    Uruguay going through largest cruise season ever and wants more

    The number of arrivals is to grow when Colonia del Sacramento becomes a new destination for cruise ships, Monzeglio explained

    Uruguay's Deputy Tourism Minister Remo Monzeglio said this week that the South American country was going through the most active cruise season in the past 8 years, with 160 ships arrived so far (116 in Montevideo, 44 in Punta del Este and 44 others yet to reach its shores.

    Aerolíneas Argentines to resume Carrasco-Ezeiza route

    The new service will depart from the Uruguayan capital Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays

    Aerolíneas Argentinas will resume its direct route between Buenos Aires' largest international air terminal (Ezeiza) and Montevideo's Carrasco, which will serve as a feeder for Uruguayan travelers to board transatlantic flights to Madrid or Rome or other domestic and regional services to destinations such as New York, Cancun, Punta Cana, or Havana.

    Uruguay demands foreign tourists have medical insurance

    Previous Covid-19 requisites have been lifted

    Effective this month, a decree signed by Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou on Feb.16 requires all foreign travelers entering the country to have medical insurance, regardless of whether they arrive by land, sea, or air. The same measure, which has also been approved by the Council of Ministers, also lifts all previous Covid-19 requisites.
