Antarctica returning to pre pandemic capacity levels, Cruise Industry Annual Report

Antarctica is returning to pre-pandemic capacity levels in the 2022-2023 season following a disrupted 2021-2022 season and no cruise traffic in 2020-2021. According to the latest edition of the Cruise Industry News Annual Report, Antarctica will receive a total of 55 ships from several different brands, including Hurtigruten, Ponant, Viking, and Seabourn

Azul adds new destinations to/from Montevideo

Owner of Bariloche hotel charged with manslaughter

The owner of a hotel in the Argentine skiing resort of Bariloche has been charged with manslaughter after three Uruguayan tourists lost their lives in June this year when a mudslide hit the structure. The architect behind the building of the Villa Huinid hotel was indicted as well.

Uruguay's cruise season in full swing; largest ever vessel MSC Seaview docks in Montevideo

The cruise season in Uruguay is in full swing and according to local authorities, some 241 calls are expected this summer. On one day three cruises docked in Montevideo, the MSC Preziosa with 4,300 passengers, the Azamara Pursuit with 379 passengers, and the Oosterdam with 1,200 passengers.

Ushuaia expects some 540 cruise calls this season, “hopefully an estimated 200,000 visitors”
