  Crisis in Uruguayan Police after Lacalle Pou dismissed the entire leadership amid corruption cases

  

  The removal of the police leadership by order of the President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, generated the biggest crisis in this force so far in this government. The head of state replaced the National Police Director, Diego Fernández, and the Executive Subdirector of Police, Jorge Berriel, it was reported late Tuesday.

  Montevideo safer for cruise passengers

  

  Around 100,000 passengers have been reported to have visited Montevideo so far this season on some 60 cruise ships, according to local authorities. Montevideo Police Chief Mario D'Elia said that the so-called “Blue Summer” operation in the Uruguayan capital's Old City has been going as planned.

  Denmark least corrupt country in the world; Uruguay in the Americas

  

  Denmark scored 90 points out of 100, to the top Transparency International's Index as the least corrupt country in the world, followed by Finland and New Zealand (87 points each).
