    Petrobras reveals extent of its losses because of corruption and mismanagement

    Brazil's state-run oil giant Petrobras which has been bashed by a wide-spread corruption scandal, reported on Wednesday a 2014 net loss of 21.6 billion Reais (7.2 billion dollars) after taking 50.8 billion Reais in charges.

    South Chile volcano erupts: evacuation, flights cancelled, army moves in

    Airlines cancelled flights as a towering, mushroom-shaped ash cloud rose from Calbuco's snowy peak. Schools also suspended classes for the region.

    Southern Chile's Calbuco volcano erupted on Wednesday for the first time in nearly half a century, spewing a giant funnel of ash high into the sky and prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency. Officials ordered an evacuation for a 20-kilometer radius around the volcano and the Interior ministry rushed in the army to temporarily take control of the province of Llanquihue and the town of Puerto Octay.

    The globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for March 2015 was the highest for the month since record keeping began in 1880. The year-to-date (January–March) globally averaged temperature was also record high, reports the US National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, together with data from NASA.

    Spain to invest 421m Euros to promote and develop aquaculture

    Brazilian state-run oil company Petrobras approved a series of financial agreements with local and international banks that will meet its financing needs in 2015, the company announced. In a filing with local stock regulators, Petrobras said that the deals will provide the company with access to about 6.2 billion dollars, including a 3.5bn financing contract reached with China Development Bank on April 1.
