First informal contacts of Trump administration with the Argentine government

Argentina's vice president Gabriela Michetti was unexpectedly greeted by president Donald Trump and held a brief meeting with her peer Mike Pence last week in Washington during the National Prayer Breakfast, a traditional ceremony held in Washington's Hilton. Michetti later shared lunch with members of the State Department Western Hemisphere Desk at the Argentine embassy.

US economy adds more jobs, but pay remains low and people looking for work has risen

United States businesses added 227,000 jobs in January, way above economists' forecasts of about 175,000. The figure, from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, compares with December's rise of 157,000, revised up slightly from last month's first estimate. However, average pay barely rose, and the number of people working part-time but looking for full-time work rose.

Federal Judge blocks Trump's immigration ban; White House will appeal

Seattle federal judge on Friday put a block on U.S. President Donald Trump's week-old executive order that had temporarily barred refugees and nationals from seven countries from entering the United States. Lami Dozo, head of the Argentine Air Force in the 1982 conflict has died

Brigadier Basilio Lami Dozo, commander of the Argentine Air Force during the South Atlantic conflict died this week at the age of 88. In 1981 he was appointed to the military Junta next to General Leopoldo Galtieri and Admiral Jorge Anaya, and the three were responsible for launching the invasion of the Falkland Islands on 2 April 1982.
