    A fascinating new exhibition, entitled The Falklands: Then & Now was opened by the Acting Governor Alex Mitham, in the Historic Dockyard Museum last week. Museum Director, Andrea Barlow, thanks invited guests to the preview, and expressed her gratitude for the many contributions to the exhibition.

    Grenfell Tower death toll feared around 70

    “I really hope it won't,” but Commander Stuart Cundy admitted the number of casualties may increase.

    The latest news from the West London Grenfell Tower fire site list 58 people missing and presumed to be dead, London police Commander Stuart Cundy said on Saturday. He also explained that the figure was based on reports from the public and feared it might go up. “This number 58 may change. I really hope it won't, but it may increase,” he said. This 58 include the 30 already confirmed dead, according to Cundy. Analysts estimate the death toll can reach 70.

    Brazilian President Temer to tour Russia, Norway this week

    “Russia will be number one on the agenda of my tour,” said President Temer

    President Michel Temer of Brazil is to meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin during his Moscow stop this coming week. Among the items to be discussed is the purchase of air defense missile systems. There will also be talks with Russian investors to discuss energy matters.

During a conference on Prosperity and Security in Central America in Miami it became known that the Vice President will be touring Colombia -Cartagena and Bogota-, Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile and Panama City on August 13-18.

    Gunman dead after high-speed police chase, hours before OAS meeting in Cancun

    Another death in Cancun in what seems to be a turf battle among rival criminal organizations.

    A suspect was gunned down in a shootout with police in Cancun at around 4 am Friday, following the discovery late on Thursday of two plastic bags containing human body parts in the hotel district, Mexican officials said. The incident took place in the area housing most of the luxury hotels, less than 48 hours before the June 19-21 General Assembly of the Organization of American States to be held in the city.

    West London skyscraper death toll reaches 30 - figures not final

    On Friday, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, visited the Grenfell Tower site and met with residents and members of the local community.

    London Police authorities have confirmed 30 people died in the Grenfell Tower fire early Wednesday morning, while another 24 remain hospitalised, 12 of whom are in critical condition. Hence, the number of victims is expected to rise and it is still uncertain whether all bodies will be identified.

    Helmut Kohl was the longest-serving Chancellor after WWII and second only to Bismarck overall.

    Former German Chancellor Helmut Kohl died on Friday morning in his home in Ludwigshafen, the Christian Democratic Union party (CDU) announced. The mentor of current Chancellor Angela Merkel and architect of Germany's reunification was 87 years old.

    Falkland Islanders and their supporters met in London on the 13th of June for the annual Liberation Day Reception. This time it was special - it marked the 35th anniversary of the war. Guest of honour was Sir Alan Duncan, just re-appointed as Foreign Office Minister with responsibility for the Falklands; this was his first outside engagement.
