Argentina's industrial activity in September down 11.5% in the last twelve months

Argentine industrial activity plunged 11.5% year-on-year in September – the biggest drop in 16 years. The INDEC national statistics bureau said that manufacturing witnessed a fifth consecutive month of decline, following drops of 1.2% in May, 8.1% in June, 5.7% in July and 5.6% in August. It’s the biggest contraction since July 2002.

Royal Family and thousands commemorate end of the First World War

Queen Elizabeth and members of the Royal Family joined thousands of people on Sunday to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War, as part of the traditional National Service of Remembrance. . A two-minute silence was held at 11am and wreaths laid at the Cenotaph to commemorate the servicemen and women killed in all conflicts from the First World War onwards.

Mudslide in Rio do Janeiro killed at least ten people: rescue teams search for missing neighbors

At least ten people were killed on Saturday when a hillside collapsed in a poor neighborhood near Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. The mudslide buried six homes in the municipality of Niteroi following days of heavy rains in the area. Among those killed were a 3-year-old child and a 10-month-old baby.

This year will again be positive for global cereal production, anticipates FAO

The United Nations FAO has raised its forecast for global cereal production in 2018 to 2.601 million tons, primarily due to higher estimates for wheat production in Canada and China. Nonetheless, the new forecast remains 2.1 percent below the record level achieved in 2017.
