Argentine Navy needs underwater units, manned or otherwise

The Argentine Navy plans to purchase two unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) for hydrographic and minehunting missions for € 450,000, in addition to new traditional units for its submarine command, it was reported.

Bullrich asks DEA to arrest Maduro in Buenos Aires

Argentina's opposition leader Patricia Bullrich, chairwoman of the Propuesta Republicana (PRO) party, a majority partner in the Together for Change (Juntos por el Cambio - JxC) alliance Sunday filed a request before the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro once he lands in Buenos Aires for the VII Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).

Lawmakers from Uruguay's ruling coalition to visit the Falklands; opposition rejects embassy invitation

Uruguayan opposition rejected an annual invitation from the UK embassy in Montevideo for lawmakers from all political parties represented in Parliament, to visit the Falklands/Malvinas Islands. The ruling coalition in Uruguay, made up of five parties accepted the invitation.

Lula's trip to Argentina to include Antarctica deal

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva's trip to Argentina next week will include the signing of a treaty for scientific and logistical cooperation between the two countries' Antarctic stations, Agencia Brasil reported. Argentine mining exports hit highest level since 2012

According to a report released this week by Argentina's Mining Secretariat, the South American country's sales abroad of these minerals totaled US$ 322 million in December of 2022, with 98% of shipments stemming from the provinces of Santa Cruz (44.6%), San Juan (22.4%), Jujuy (19.1%), Salta (7.7%) and Catamarca (4.0%).
