  Argentina will pay $5.9bn mature Boden 15 bonds on Monday, and issue new debt

  

  Argentina on Monday will pay the $5.9 billion maturity due for its Boden 15 bonds in cash and issue new debt the following day, Economy Minister Axel Kicillof said on Friday. Argentina which is in technical default on some debt because of a legal fight with bondholders in the United States, targets raising $500 million in the auction of notes under Argentine law, Kicillof told a news conference.

  Interpol's 'blue notice' for Argentina's former top-spy; US ambassador summoned to ministry

  

  Interpol issued a “blue notice” ordering all its agencies around the world to search for and locate former Argentine Intelligence Secretariat (SI) Operations chief Antonio “Jaime” Stiuso so that the Attorney General’s Unit for the Investigation into the attack on the AMIA Jewish community centre (UFI AMIA) could issue a new subpoena to question him about his role in the probe.

  The Argentine Catholic Church called for the upcoming presidential elections on 25 October to be held with “transparency” and urged candidates to present “their proposals and ideas with clarity” and regretted a climate “which debilitates the credibility of persons and institutions”.

  Uruguay and Argentina ban hake and squid captures in shared waters

  

  The Joint Technical Commission for the Maritime Front (CTMFM) announced a ban on hake (Merluccius hubbsi) and squid (Illex argentinus) capture in the Common Fishing Zone of Uruguay and Argentina as of Thursday October first.

  Argentina launches the three-ton ARSAT-2 telecommunications satellite

  

  Argentina on Wednesday launched the ARSAT-2 spacecraft from a site in French Guyana, with the goal of providing telecommunication services across much of the Western hemisphere. ARSAT (Argentine Satellite Solutions), a state-owned company created in 2006, monitored the launch and operation of ARSAT-2 from the Benavídez Ground Station in northern Buenos Aires province.

  Plenty of Cristina's friends referred to the Malvinas claim at the UN

  

  Although president Cristina Fernandez, to the surprise of many, did not mention a word about Argentina's claim over the Falkland Islands, particularly since this was her last address to the UN General Assembly, Minister Hector Timerman said that nobody could doubt the president's commitment to the Malvinas question, and there were plenty of mentions to the issue from allied countries.

  US dollar in Argentina at an all time record of 16.08 Pesos

  

  The unofficial or 'blue' US dollar exchange rate in Argentina hit an all-time high of 16.08 Pesos at the end of trading on Friday, due in part to policy uncertainty ahead of the October 25 presidential election, according to local market sources.
