  Falklands will receive a visit from the International Red Cross

  

  A four person delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will be visiting the Falkland Islands from 27 June to 2 July, as part of the humanitarian mission to help identify the mortal remains of unnamed Argentine combatants buried at the Argentine memorial in Darwin.

  Falklands Holdings expects quieter period following suspension of oil exploration but trusts increased tourism

  

  Falkland Islands Holdings PLC on Tuesday reported a fall in pre-tax profit for its recently ended financial year, and said it expects to see a quieter period in the Falklands for the year ahead, to be offset by its Portsmouth Harbour Ferry and Momart businesses.

  Falklands commemorates 34th anniversary of Liberation Day

  

  Commemorations are being held today in the Falkland Islands to mark the ending of the Falklands War, which ended 34 years ago after 74 days of Argentine occupation. Liberation Day as it is officially known in the Falklands is commemorated every year on the 14th June in the Islands and is a national holiday.

  OAS General Assembly: a statement on Falklands/Malvinas can be expected

  

  This Monday evening the Organization of American States 46th General Assembly will officially open in Santo Domingo and this year's convening agenda refers to “Institutional Strengthening for Sustainable Development in the Americas”. The two day gathering is also expected to focus on the Venezuela, Haiti and the Inter-American Human Rights Commission situations, and as is the norm, the Falklands-Malvinas issue will be addressed or included in the final declaration.

  Argentina calls on UK to strengthen bilateral relations and for Malvinas dialogue

  

  The Argentine government reiterates its full willingness for an open dialogue with the United Kingdom to strengthen the bilateral relation and indentify possible cooperation areas in the South Atlantic. Likewise it invites the UK to resume negotiations on the Malvinas question in the framework of the UN General Assembly resolution 2065, according to an official statement from the Argentine foreign ministry released on Friday.
