  The Commander of British Forces South Atlantic Islands has rubbished a story in UK The Sunday Express news paper that the Falkland Islands is on a high security alert, and made a brief comment to that respect.

  Falklands want to be good neighbors and have closer links with Latin America

  

  The Falkland Islands and its people want to be 'good neighbors, have trade links, cooperation agreements and closer relations with the southern cone of South America, but 'without losing our identity', said Falklands lawmakers to Punta Arenas Prensa Austral that was present at the celebrations last Saturday for the 250th anniversary of the first flying of the Union Flag in the Islands marking the beginning of British rule.

  China to supply Argentina five “Malvinas Class” offshore patrol vessels

  Falklands' oil drilling program confirmed; rig from Western Africa on its way

  

  Falkland Oil and Gas Ltd has confirmed that the Eirik Raude rig has commenced mobilization from West Africa to the Falkland Islands for the 2015 drilling program, which will be operated by Premier Oil and Noble Energy.

  Falklands' community enjoys 250th anniversary celebrations

  

  Saturday 31st January saw the culmination of a week of celebrations in the Falkland Islands commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Union Flag being raised on Saunders Island. Commodore John Byron placed the flag in 1765 signifying the start of British rule in the Falkland Islands.

  Falklands/Malvinas: Celac summit, including Commonwealth members, support Argentina's 'legitimate' claims

  

  The Celac summit held in Costa Rica and which brings together all Latin American and Caribbean countries released a declaration expressing full support for Argentina's 'legitimate' rights over the Falklands/Malvinas, recalls that 2015 marks the 50th anniversary of Resolution 2065 (first UN Assembly General resolution on the Falklands dispute) and again call on the goods offices of Ban Ki-moon to help start negotiations on the Argentina/UK dispute.

  Falklands' anti-Argentine flag petition collects 494 names and a lively debate

  

  A lively debate, at times impassioned took place earlier this week in the Falkland Islands during a public meeting at the Chamber of Commerce to discuss bad behavior from Argentine visitors which was described as 'disturbing and distressing” for many Islanders.

  Falklands “Time Capsule” to celebrate 250th anniversary of flying the Union Flag in the Islands

  

  As part of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the Union Flag being raised by English Commodore John Byron in the Falkland Islands, on 21 January 1765, more precisely on Saunders Island, a ceremonial sod of turf was raised on the site for a “Time Capsule” to be buried.

  HMS Dragon helicopter helps track remaining reindeer in South Georgia

  

  HMS Dragon made her first visit to South Georgia over Christmas, reports the South Georgia newsletter in its December edition. The Type 45 air defense destroyer had a Westland Lynx helicopter on board which was used to survey the Barff Peninsula for any remaining reindeer ahead of the arrival of the Norwegian SNO marksmen.
