  Falklands: formal UK protest to Argentina over oil bill: Argentine law does not apply in the Islands

  

  The United Kingdom formally protested on Monday to Argentina about the passing of an amendment to the hydrocarbons bill which seeks to criminalize individuals or companies with involved in hydrocarbons activities in Falkland Islands waters, insisting that Argentine law does not apply to the Falklands and the Islanders right to develop their hydrocarbons sector.

  Uruguayan former Defense minister honored by Argentina for his Malvinas claims support

  

  Uruguayan Senator from the ruling coalition Luis Rosadilla will be honored by the Argentine embassy in Montevideo for having volunteered in 1982 to join the Argentine war effort during the invasion of the Falkland Islands.

  Three experts in the use of renewable energy who were visiting the Falkland Islands this week as the guests of the Falkland Islands Government declared themselves surprised by extent of the efforts made in the Islands to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

  Foreign Office updates Parliament on major UK/Overseas Territories conference

  

  The commitment of the governments of the Overseas Territories and the UK to continue to work together in partnership was underlined by Foreign Office minister Mark Simmonds MP when he updated Parliament on the outcome of this year’s Joint Ministerial Council, which was attended by leaders from eleven OTs including the Falkland Islands.
