    Falklands approves importation, possession, use and sale of Cannabidiol (CBD)

    The Executive Council of the Falkland Islands has approved that the importation, possession, use and retail sale of excepted products containing Cannabidiol (CBD) in the Falklands should be lawful. The announcement was reported on the Falklands government page.

    Falklands’ inshore waters recognized as globally significant seabird hotspot

    Sites within the Key Biodiversity Areas, KBA, which were noted as of particular importance were the rich waters around the Jason Islands, New Island, Bird Island and Saunders Island

    A Falklands Conservation project has identified the Falklands Islands’ inshore waters as globally recognized Key Biodiversity Areas (KBA) for breeding seabirds, driving forward their aim for quality marine management practices in the Islands.

    Crime and Policing in the Falkland Islands: have your say survey

    The survey is intended to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences of contact with the police since 2019

    The Royal Falkland Islands Police (RFIP) has reminded that the month long Survey on Crime and Policing in the Falkland Islands runs until Sunday 31 July. The survey aims to gain insight into public perceptions of crime in the Islands and how the police have dealt with reported crime or incidents. It is intended to give the public an opportunity to provide feedback on their experiences of contact with the police since 2019, in both emergency and non-emergency situations. RFIP is seeking to hear from people across the Islands diverse community.

    It's official, the Falkland Islands have a new Governor, and the first woman to occupy that position, Ms. Alison Blake CMG. The governor designate for the Falkland Islands, and Commissioner of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Ms. Blake took the oath of office on Saturday morning at the Court and Assembly Chamber.

    Falklands Covid-19 booster vaccination postponed because of airbridge delays

    Falkland Islands Thursday 21 July vaccination program against Covid 19 has been postponed. In a release KEMH regretted ”to announce that the planned vaccination session at the FIDF complex on Thursday 21 July, has be postponed. This is due to vaccine stock issues; which are anticipated to be rectified with the arrival of the flight on Friday 22 July.

    Veteran Simon is well-known for his charity work and as a motivational speaker and broadcaster after he sustained serious burns to over 46% of his body

    Falklands War Veteran Simon Weston CBE will be visiting the Islands next 22 February when Fred Olsen Cruise Lines “Balmoral” calls at Stanley. The cruise will be next year on an epic 78-night voyage to South America and Antarctica, with Weston joining the trip for fourteen nights and sharing with fellow travelers his experiences during and after the Falklands war.
