  Argentina honors Spanish fisherman who spied on the Task Force during the Falklands war

  

  The Argentine embassy in Madrid honored a Spanish fisherman from Galicia, Fernando Otero, as a Malvinas Veteran for services accomplished during the 1982 Falklands war, spying on the British Task Force as she approached the South Atlantic. The event took place on Argentina's National Day, May 25th.

  Falklands/UK airbridge has reduced flight time with re-route via Cape Verde

  

  The United Kingdom MoD (Ministry of Defense) announced on Thursday that plans were in place to trial the Falkland Islands Airbridge flight via Sal, Cape Verde, on a temporary basis which would result in a shorter overall flight time and improved passenger experience.

  Falklands claims C24 is unresponsive to some non self governing territories, and has a colonialist attitude

  

  The Falkland Islands said that the reason why some Non Self Governing Territories were unresponsive to the Special Committee on Decolonization, or C24, was that the issues proposed were not attractive, and to be effective it must engage with these territories in a more effective manner, and with a much less colonialist attitude.

  Falklands cemetery combatants identification: Red Cross delegation expected in Buenos Aires

  

  An advance mission from the International Committee of the Red Cross is expected in Buenos Aires next week to iron out details of the DNA process to be implemented for the identification of unknown Argentine combatants buried in the Falkland Islands at the Darwin cemetery. The news was advanced in the Buenos Aires media.

  UK Labour’s shadow foreign secretary, Emily Thornberry has accused Michael Fallon of talking “bollocks” after the defense secretary claimed she wanted to negotiate with Argentina over the future of the Falklands. In a spiky exchange on the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday, Thornberry hit back at Fallon, saying: “That is bollocks. It’s untrue,” and adding: “You can’t just make this stuff up.”

  UK/Uruguay confirm Antarctic cooperation with Montevideo visit of two BAS research vessels

  

  Two British scientific research vessels coincided in Montevideo in early May at the end of the Antarctic season, in their way back to Southampton.
