  Malvinas: Chile reiterates support for Argentina's claim through dialogue

  

  Foreign minister Heraldo Muñoz reiterated on Wednesday Chile's support for Argentina sovereign rights over the Falkland Islands, Georgia and South Sandwich Islands during a meeting with visiting Daniel Filmus, head of Argentina's desk relative to Malvinas and other South Atlantic Islands affairs.

  Falkland Islands resident off to Oxford University with a Chevening scholarship

  

  A Falkland Islands resident is off to the University of Oxford later this year, after being announced as the Falkland Islands' newest Chevening Scholar. Clare Cockwell has been offered a full scholarship under the UK Government's Chevening programme to study towards an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management at Hertford College.

  Falklands: Premier Oil confirms full commitment to Sea Lion project

  

  Premier Oil has updated progress on the Sea Lion project, the first field development offshore the Falkland Islands. Latest subsurface studies suggest recoverable reserves for the Phase 1 development at 308 MMbbl, with further upside of 60 MMbbl if next year’s well on the Chatham prospect confirms that there is no gas cap in the western side of the field.

  Premier oil shows stronger than expected output in first half of the year

  

  Falkland Islands involved oil and gas explorer Premier Oil may upgrade its 2014 production forecast after stronger-than-expected output in the first half of the year, pending the outcome of summer maintenance work, its Chief Executive said. The company reported a 7% rise in first-half profit after tax on Thursday, helped by strong oil production from its British fields.

  'Malvinas Institute' in La Plata university to research 'sovereignty policies'

  

  The University of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, is setting up a “Malvinas Institute” that will specialize in 'sovereignty policies' research, as part of the Political Sciences department. The new research and extension center will be located in a former military barracks in downtown La Plata which was ceased to the university.

  The Falkland Islands has an oil legislation regime that is robust and encourages investment, believes Financial Secretary Nicola Granger.
